"The run of Hooverian Blur 12”s over the past four years have offered a different slant on clattering breaks n’ bass, tapping into the nascent UK hardcore sound when the style was more of a lab experiment than an established scene.

‘Delusion’ rolls with slow, ruffneck pressure, riding a classic break given a squeeze and peppering it with scattered stabs and bleeps as unhinged as they are on-point. The synth lines on the likes of ‘Panic’ and ‘Kill Chain’ point a little to braindance in their playful hooks, coming on with the blunted demeanour of Vibert et al when they were still figuring out rave dynamics. ‘Techlash’ isn’t a million miles from a Plug workout in fact – all skittering jungle edits and tweaked out atmospherics.

The principle of these tracks is devastatingly simple, and yet Hooverian Blur manages to inject each one with totally distinct character, even as things strip right down to a mean tempered sub punch and a beat.
